We have just received this urgent message. Please do what you can to 
protest about the unnecessary loss of these mature trees by writing 
to the members of the planning committee, links below.

Dear Resident,

We have just 24 hours to save the Tension Road trees. Please can you help?

The CB1 Station Development outline planning permission has now been granted
but the detailed plans for each block have to be approved.

On Wednesday morning the Planning Committee will consider the replacement
office block for Great Eastern House on the corner of Tenison Road and
Station Road. Nobody will mourn the loss of the ugly 1960s Gt Eastern House
but the trees which surround it are a delight. They include a semi-mature
plane tree which is the subject of a tree preservation order. (see attached
photograph)

The new block is going to be a seven storey glass and steel building that
will tower over the neighbourhood. The only redeeming feature would be a
screen of mature trees, but these are to be cut down and replaced by six
small flowering cherries and crab apples.

The Council Officials seem completely compliant to the wishes of the
Developer Brookgate, and have not raised objection to the loss of even the
protected Plane tree.

The matter will however be decided by the Committee. The Residents
Association will plead for the trees at the meeting on Wednesday. Please
help by emailing your views to the one, or all, of the Committee members
