This news gives us serious doubt over the safety and security of trees in the council's care and is of great concern to us because it undermines our trust in the council. I hope that the council will move rapidly to make it clear that no major mature trees such as these will be considered for felling in such circumstances Regards, John Lawton Chair, SOS Cambridge ------------------------------------------------------ Save Our green Spaces: http://www.soscambridge.org.uk Twitter: @SOS_Cambridge ------------------------------------------------------ From chair at soscambridge.org.uk Tue Jul 23 12:15:37 2013 From: chair at soscambridge.org.uk (John Lawton) Date: Tue, 23 Jul 2013 12:15:37 +0100 Subject: [Announce] Tree on Christ's Pieces under threat Message-ID: Dear All, unfortunately we've heard more bad news. The Council is consulting over the future of a mature chestnut tree on Christ's Pieces. The tree is near the tennis courts & King St. It has been diagnosed with bleeding canker and this is judged to be apparently sufficiently advanced to make the tree unviable. Matthew Magrath is the tree officer and this Thursday July 25th is the last day to object.
