Dear All,
Guy Belcher,Nature Conservation Officer at the city council has asked
usto help promote this invite to view a potential new public open space
for the City:
Please see attached for information about three planned guided tours of
the Coldham’s Lane / Cherry Hinton lakes, that are being organised by
the City Council.
Thursday 24th September 14.30—16.00
Tuesday 29th September 12.30—14.00
Saturday 3rd October 10.30—12.00
Policy 15 in the draft Local Plan includes the potential to open this
currently private site for quiet recreation. Preliminary ideas about the
opening of the lakes are likely to be discussed at the following Area
Committee Meetings:
o South Area Committee 5 October
o East Area Committee meeting 29 October
The guided walks are intended to give members of the public an
opportunity to get a better understanding of the lakes, so that they can
give well informed opinions on the proposals.
I thought you might like to promote this to pupils and parents. They
will need to register to attend one of the walks at
Parks at cambridge.gov.uk <mailto:Parks at cambridge.gov.uk>or by calling
01223 458532
Please note:
- Access is predominantly along earth tracks which may be
uneven
- Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
- No dogs or cycles can be taken around the lakes
- You will need to wear stout footwear and clothing
suitable to the conditions
- You will be asked to stay with the group and adhere to
any onsite instructions
- There are no toilet facilities on the site
